This world is such a beautiful place. We are surrounded by some of the best technology we have ever seen. The best medical advancements are happening every day. And we are just continuing to advance and grow.
But yet, we still are unhappy. We are still struggling to find the beauty in our world, the beauty in those tiny details. Why is that, why are we having such a hard time with everything?
Why is our perspective so negative?
Through this life, I have had my highs and lows. I’ve had moments where I wanted to hurt myself, where life seemed hopeless and pointless, but I’ve also had highs that are amazing. High’s that fuel your soul and show you how beautiful this life is. And those highs soon turned into just ME. They were no longer highs, they were just life.
So, how did my perspective change?
I stopped giving a shit about what material possessions I had, and started caring more about spiritual and relationships with my friends and family. I worked on building relationships with PEOPLE. Friendships, relationships and tons of soul searching. I began doing what fed my soul, and what made me feel good, and started caring less and less about what others thought of me.
I stopped caring about having the newest washer and dryer, the newest and greatest phone, car, camera or clothes. Because those things are just things. They were forcing me to live outside my means, and society was telling me that I needed the newest cars, cell phones and other items to be happy.
But in reality, none of those things could make me happy, I had to fuel my soul to make myself happy.
But how did I do it?
When I discovered how photography fueled my soul and brought me happiness, I knew that I needed to find a way to keep that passion going, and what I could do to give that feeling of joy and appreciation to others.
Because as a photographer, I am creating a way for people to forever remember special moments of their lives. Moments that they will never get back or experience again.
So for the past year, I have done everything I can to “trim the fat” and live a simpler life, to remove all materialistic thoughts, actions and to live in the moment more. What is something you could do to make your life simpler, and something you can do to fuel your soul?
